Rubedos was founded with the formula ´better awareness leads to better action´ in its DNA. We became renowned for our FDA-compliant robotic precise tumor targeting solution designed for an image guided radiation therapy product. Soon we realized that in the coming years many other vertical markets were going to benefit from the adoption of computer vision. Back then the technology was still famous for its complexity. So we set to develop a universal extensible bolt-on 3D visual perception system for the next generation of robots which depend on the ability to acquire, organize, and interpret surrounding visual data in order to stay aware of the environmental situation and act both safely and adequately.
What is the question your technology is the answer for?
Our plug-in-and-go visual perception system Viper, powered by the Nvidia Jetson TX2 AI module, gives previously non-autonomous machines the power to see in 3D and navigate through environments, independently. Our goal is to achieve the autonomous efficiency of material handling vehicles close to conventional human-operated at a fraction of its cost. We aim at replacing state-of-art fixed path autonomy with free ranging vision guided autonomy for material handling applications in manufacturing, logistics and transportation and also explore aerospace and service robotics applications. For example, our technology has been used in a smart wheelchair to track and follow the human person. As a result, a group of disabled children can be taken outside for a ride-walk by a single nurse.
What makes your company unique?
Some companies in our field have vision expertise, some have robotics expertise - few have both. Our expertise has won us significant development projects for such ground breaking operations as the patient positioning under the linear accelerator in image guided radiation therapy. Our products and service delivery have been tried and tested by the best in business (Elekta, ABB, Bosch), in the harshest of environments (e.g. Zwentendorf Nuclear Power Plant). We carry out most of our design methods and processes in-house, including some that others don't or cannot do (MBSE, ISO13485, ISO14971, IEC62304). Location-wise, Lithuania offers quality talent and business infrastructure with high technological affinity.
