All of us co-founders have grown up in countries that are infamous for their traffic. Just driving to work everyday was motivation enough to work on this problem! With our background as Computer Vision and IoT academics, we started reviewing the current Radar and Lidar based enforcement systems and realized their limitations and complications. We felt that traffic enforcement systems based on deep-learning and video analytics can be much better and cheaper. That is how our company was born.
Which customer problem is solved by your products?
More than 1.35 million people die in road crashes each year. These deaths are avoidable and unnecessary, and can be reduced when traffic enforcement devices are installed on the roads. Yet, so far, less than 30,000 intersections globally are covered by red-light enforcement cameras, and there are only about 70,000 speed cameras in the world. This is primarily because these systems are expensive and complicated to deploy. We want to change that and contribute towards ´Vision-Zero´, the goal of reducing road-fatalities to zero.
What characterizes the company's uniqueness?
Our solution is purely based on video analytics software, and can work with off-the-shelf camera units. We have an edge-based solution, which is almost as simple to deploy as installing a CCTV camera. We cover many more dangerous driving scenarios, including banned turns, not yielding to pedestrians on crosswalk, not wearing seat-belt and using mobile phone while driving, all from camera inputs using computer vision. Thus, our customers get a much more comprehensive product at a fraction of the cost.
